The meeting was attended by senior district and provincial government officials, representatives of civil society organisations, local government institutions and community stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the session, technical experts presented the <strong>District Contingency Plan 2026\u20132027<\/strong>, which was developed using both primary and secondary data. The primary information was collected through interviews with officials and representatives from the district administration, the Health Department, the People&#8217;s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), the Social Welfare Department, the Irrigation Department, the Municipal Corporation, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the meeting, <strong>Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Bushra Mansoor<\/strong>, <strong>Faisal Kokhar<\/strong> and <strong>Zaheer Junejo<\/strong> commended the collaborative efforts of various departments in incorporating a <strong>Multi-Vulnerability Hazard Risk Analysis<\/strong> into the district contingency plan. They described the inclusion of scientific risk assessment as an important step towards strengthening disaster preparedness and improving coordinated emergency management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The speakers emphasised the importance of close cooperation among all relevant institutions to safeguard human lives, protect livelihoods and economic assets, minimise losses caused by natural disasters and strengthen preparedness before emergencies occur. They stressed that informed decision-making and coordinated action are essential for ensuring timely and effective emergency response and relief operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants also urged the federal and provincial governments to ensure the timely release of financial resources to districts for disaster preparedness, response, recovery and reconstruction activities. They highlighted that adequate funding is critical for enabling local administrations to respond effectively to emergencies and to reduce the long-term impact of natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting further underscored the need to enhance the institutional capacity of relevant departments and agencies.
