Islamabad:<\/strong> Rising water levels in the River Chenab<\/strong> have caused flooding in several parts of Punjab, with an embankment breach in Jalalpur Pirwala<\/strong> inundating five villages<\/strong> and forcing residents to evacuate low-lying areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, the Zamindara embankment<\/strong> in Jalalpur Pirwala gave way after the Chenab’s water level continued to rise, allowing floodwaters to enter nearby settlements. Residents living along the riverbanks carried out large-scale evacuations as the water spread across affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Rahim Yar Khan<\/strong>, rising water levels in the River Indus<\/strong> also resulted in the breach of an embankment, causing floodwaters to enter three villages<\/strong>. Standing crops in the affected areas were submerged, raising concerns over agricultural losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flooding also affected Sheikhupura<\/strong>, where several localities, including Hadyala Warkan village<\/strong>, were inundated. Prepared crops suffered extensive damage as floodwaters spread across farmland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flood situation also disrupted Pakistan’s railway network. A railway bridge on the Sheikhupura\u2013Lahore section<\/strong> was damaged after being struck by a strong flood surge, leading to the suspension of services on the route. As a result, several trains operating on the Lahore\u2013Faisalabad section<\/strong> were cancelled, while others were diverted to alternative routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the flood monitoring authorities, the River Ravi<\/strong> is experiencing moderate flooding<\/strong> at Sadhnai<\/strong>, while the River Indus<\/strong> is at low flood level<\/strong> at Kalabagh, Chashma, Taunsa and Guddu<\/strong>. Officials have also warned that water levels at the Guddu<\/strong> and Sukkur barrages<\/strong> are expected to rise further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the River Chenab<\/strong> is also flowing at low flood level<\/strong> at Head Khanki, Qadirabad and Trimmu<\/strong>, with authorities continuing to monitor the situation closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response to the increasing flood risk, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144<\/strong>, banning swimming in dams, rivers, canals and lakes<\/strong> as well as boating without official permission<\/strong> across the province. The order also prohibits bathing in rainwater accumulated on streets, roads and open public spaces to prevent accidents and loss of life during the ongoing monsoon season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities have urged residents living in flood-prone areas to remain alert, follow official advisories and cooperate with emergency services as water levels continue to fluctuate across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
