Karachi:<\/strong> Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah<\/strong> has dismissed discussions about the division of Sindh, saying such proposals are not taken seriously and insisting that the province will remain united.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking alongside Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab<\/strong> at the inauguration ceremony of the Munawar Chorangi Underpass<\/strong>, Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had carried out extensive development work across Karachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He rejected criticism that the city had been neglected, stating that the PPP government had constructed numerous underpasses and bridges<\/strong> to improve infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shah also referred to efforts to reclaim public spaces, noting that marriage halls built on playgrounds had been removed under the city’s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to claims that Karachi ranks among the world’s worst cities, he said the city’s continued population growth reflected its importance and appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If Karachi were such a bad city, people would not continue to move here,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing Karachi as a “Mini Pakistan,”<\/strong> Shah said the city belongs to people from all parts of the country and that no one could be prevented from settling there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Karachi is Mini Pakistan. We cannot stop anyone from coming here and making it their home,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provincial minister also praised the performance of local government representatives, saying town chairmen and the mayor were working around the clock to address civic issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He acknowledged that complaints remained in some areas but said authorities respond promptly whenever problems are reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a question about calls for the division of Sindh, Shah reiterated that the issue was not a matter of concern for the provincial government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Some people occasionally raise the issue of dividing Sindh, but we do not take such statements seriously,” he said. “Sindh will never be divided.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
