{"id":7637,"date":"2026-07-26T09:55:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T09:55:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=7637"},"modified":"2026-07-26T09:55:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T09:55:13","slug":"lahore-mass-transit-ends-token-and-legacy-card-system-for-orange-line-speedo-and-metro-bus-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=7637","title":{"rendered":"Lahore Mass Transit Ends Token and Legacy Card System for Orange Line, Speedo and Metro Bus Services"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Lahore:<\/strong> The <strong>Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA)<\/strong> has abolished the <strong>token and legacy card system<\/strong> for the <strong>Orange Line Metro Train, Speedo buses, and Metro Bus services<\/strong>, introducing alternative digital payment methods for commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, <strong>Uzair Shah<\/strong>, In-Charge of the Mass Transit Authority, said passengers will no longer be able to use the old transit cards or tokens for travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, commuters can now pay their fares using <strong>T-Cash cards, the official mobile application, and ATM\/debit cards<\/strong>, as part of the authority&#8217;s updated fare collection system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The authority also announced that <strong>any remaining balance on old transit cards will not be refunded<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, passengers who return their old cards at designated stations will receive <strong>Rs130<\/strong>, representing the refundable security deposit paid when the card was issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uzair Shah urged all passengers to submit their old cards at the relevant stations to claim the security deposit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, several commuters expressed dissatisfaction with the transition, claiming they were <strong>not informed in advance<\/strong> about the discontinuation of the card system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passengers also alleged that despite the announcement ending the old card system, some cards were <strong>still being recharged<\/strong>, creating confusion among users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mass Transit Authority has not yet commented on these complaints or clarified how passengers who recently recharged their old cards will be accommodated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move is part of efforts to modernise fare collection across Lahore&#8217;s public transport network by expanding the use of digital and contactless payment options.
