South Waziristan:<\/strong> Pakistan’s security forces have foiled an attempted militant attack on a security check post in South Waziristan district<\/strong> of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing four alleged militants<\/strong>, including a suicide bomber, according to the military’s media wing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)<\/strong> said security personnel responded promptly and effectively after militants attempted to breach the check post’s security perimeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the ISPR, the attackers used an explosives-laden vehicle<\/strong> in an apparent attempt to carry out a suicide attack. Security forces engaged the vehicle before it could reach the check post, destroying it outside the security perimeter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military said the suicide bomber inside the vehicle was killed in the explosion, preventing damage to the check post and avoiding casualties among security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the initial engagement, security forces pursued the remaining three militants, who reportedly took refuge inside a nearby building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR said troops conducted a follow-up operation and killed all three militants after clearing the building. It added that no security personnel were killed or injured<\/strong> during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the military, the swift response of the security forces successfully thwarted the attackers’ attempt to penetrate the check post and prevented what could have been a major terrorist attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR also stated that a clearance operation<\/strong> is continuing in the surrounding area to search for any additional militants who may have been involved in the attempted attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its statement, the military described the attackers as members of Fitna al-Khawarij<\/em>, the term officially used by the Pakistani state for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and affiliated militants. The ISPR further alleged that the militants were backed by India, an allegation that India has consistently denied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations until militancy is eliminated, saying security forces remain determined to neutralise all threats and maintain peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
