SUKKUR \u2014 In compliance with court orders, the district administration in New Sukkur launched an anti-encroachment operation on Government Society near 60-Feet Road, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (AC) Waseem Mehr. The action aimed to remove illegal structures and restore public pathways that had been unlawfully occupied by local residents and shopkeepers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to details, officers from TMC Three Nisar Siddiqui Town, along with the encroachment staff, district police, and personnel from other relevant departments, actively participated in the operation. The joint teams demolished unauthorized constructions, dismantled extended shades, and cleared pathways and sidewalks that had been converted into private spaces or commercial extensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the media, AC Waseem Mehr stated that illegal occupation of public routes and government land would not be tolerated under any circumstances. \u201cEncroachments not only block access for the public but also disrupt the city\u2019s infrastructure and planning. The ongoing campaign is aimed at restoring order, ensuring smooth pedestrian movement, and enhancing the city\u2019s cleanliness and beauty,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Assistant Commissioner further emphasized that the anti-encroachment drive would continue across different areas of Sukkur in coordination with municipal authorities and law enforcement agencies. \u201cOur objective is to implement court directives transparently and in line with all legal formalities,\u201d he said, reiterating that the operation was carried out strictly in accordance with judicial instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, several local residents and business owners expressed frustration over what they called an \u201cunexpected operation.\u201d They claimed they were not given prior notice before the demolitions began, causing them significant financial losses. \u201cWe support legal measures, but we should at least be informed beforehand so that we can remove our belongings voluntarily,\u201d said one shopkeeper affected by the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
