DADU:<\/strong> Leaders of the Dadu Rabta Committee Civil Society<\/strong> staged their fourth consecutive symbolic hunger strike<\/strong> outside the Dadu Press Club, demanding immediate action to resolve longstanding civic and administrative issues affecting the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protesters held placards and banners while chanting slogans against various government departments. They urged the Sindh government and relevant authorities to address the city’s pressing problems without further delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media during the demonstration, Civil Society Chairman Ghulam Mustafa Janwari<\/strong>, along with Farooq Jatoi, Zulfiqar Anar, Afzal Sial, Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah, Murad Ali Jatoi, Abbas Qureshi<\/strong>, and other members, alleged that residents of Dadu were facing severe hardships due to the inefficiency and alleged mismanagement of several public institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegations Against WAPDA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The protesters criticized officials of the local electricity department, alleging that frequent unscheduled power outages<\/strong> had become routine because of administrative negligence. They also claimed that electricity consumers were being burdened with unjustified deductions and additional charges<\/strong> in their electricity bills, causing financial and mental stress to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The civil society representatives called on the relevant authorities to investigate these complaints and ensure transparency in electricity billing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Municipal Services Under Fire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The protesters also raised concerns over the condition of municipal services in Dadu, alleging that poor administration had resulted in the collapse of the city’s sanitation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They claimed that garbage had accumulated on streets and roads while stagnant wastewater in drains was creating environmental pollution and increasing the risk of disease outbreaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The demonstrators further alleged financial irregularities within the Municipal Committee, accusing certain officials of mismanaging public funds while municipal employees continued to face salary delays. According to the protesters, one municipal employee had even attempted to set himself on fire inside the office last month due to prolonged non-payment of wages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These allegations have not been independently verified, and the officials named in the protest have not publicly responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concerns Over Revenue Department<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The civil society leaders also criticized officials of the Revenue Department and local administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They alleged that roadside vendors were being unfairly targeted during anti-encroachment operations while influential individuals involved in illegal constructions were being ignored. Protest leaders questioned why action was allegedly focused on daily wage earners instead of larger violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The protesters also accused officials in the revenue office of demanding illegal payments for services such as issuing sale certificates, land ownership records (Fard), and other official documents<\/strong>. These allegations likewise remain unverified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call for Administrative Action<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The demonstrators also criticized the district administration, claiming that water frequently accumulates on roads, including areas near government offices, creating serious difficulties for commuters and residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They urged the Deputy Commissioner and other senior officials to take immediate steps to improve drainage and ensure better municipal management throughout the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
