{"id":7150,"date":"2026-07-23T10:42:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=7150"},"modified":"2026-07-23T10:42:03","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T10:42:03","slug":"record-rainfall-floods-lahore-streets-boats-seen-in-dha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=7150","title":{"rendered":"Record Rainfall Floods Lahore Streets, Boats Seen in DHA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LAHORE:<\/strong> Torrential monsoon rains battered Lahore, with <strong>263 millimetres of rainfall recorded in a single spell<\/strong>, causing widespread urban flooding, severe traffic disruption, and rain-related accidents across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <strong>Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA)<\/strong>, the <strong>Lahore Airport<\/strong> area received the highest rainfall at <strong>263 mm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other rainfall measurements included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tajpura:<\/strong> 157.4 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kahna:<\/strong> 143 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Shadipura:<\/strong> 136 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mughalpura:<\/strong> 133 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mall Road:<\/strong> 116 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manawan:<\/strong> 112.2 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Johar Town:<\/strong> 81 mm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chowk Nakhuda:<\/strong> 64.6 mm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The heavy downpour submerged roads across the city, leaving several feet of water in many areas and bringing traffic to a near standstill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Numerous <strong>cars and motorcycles broke down after becoming stranded in floodwater<\/strong>, while dramatic scenes emerged from <strong>DHA<\/strong>, where boats were seen navigating flooded streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities said water levels in parts of <strong>DHA<\/strong> rose so high that they reached the roof of an underpass. The <strong>Harbanspura Underpass<\/strong> was also closed to traffic after being inundated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <strong>Tajpura<\/strong>, floodwater entered residential homes, creating significant hardship for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several neighborhoods, including <strong>Canal Road near Journalists&#8217; Colony, Jallo Park, Medical Scheme, Tajpura Scheme<\/strong>, and adjoining localities, experienced extensive waterlogging, with floodwater accumulating several feet deep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The severe weather also resulted in casualties and injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Near <strong>Kahna<\/strong> on <strong>Ferozepur Road<\/strong>, two brothers were killed after their motorcycle reportedly skidded on the slippery road and crashed into an electricity pole.
