{"id":6469,"date":"2026-07-19T11:44:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T11:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=6469"},"modified":"2026-07-19T11:44:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T11:44:36","slug":"report-two-u-s-troops-killed-in-iranian-attacks-on-bases-in-jordan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=6469","title":{"rendered":"Report: Two U.S. Troops Killed in Iranian Attacks on Bases in Jordan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WASHINGTON:<\/strong> Two U.S. service members were killed and dozens of others wounded in a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks on American military facilities in Jordan over the past five days, according to <strong>The New York Times<\/strong>, citing U.S. officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report said the repeated attacks indicate that Iran continues to possess a significant missile arsenal and has improved its ability to penetrate U.S. air defense systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to U.S. officials cited by the newspaper, the first attack struck a <strong>residential building at King Faisal Air Base<\/strong>, injuring at least <strong>five U.S. personnel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A second strike reportedly targeted a military installation in eastern Jordan where <strong>UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters<\/strong> were stationed, causing damage to several helicopters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another missile attack hit <strong>Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (Azraq)<\/strong>, where around <strong>20 U.S. troops<\/strong> sheltering in bunkers were injured, although no fatalities were reported in that incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials said the same base came under attack again on <strong>Friday<\/strong>, resulting in the deaths of <strong>two U.S. service members<\/strong> and injuries to <strong>four others<\/strong>. Several personnel sustained minor injuries and later returned to duty after medical evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier, the <strong>U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM)<\/strong> confirmed that <strong>two American service members were killed<\/strong> and several others wounded while defending against <strong>Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks<\/strong> in Jordan on <strong>July 17<\/strong>. CENTCOM also stated that <strong>one U.S. service member remains missing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Separately, Iran&#8217;s <strong>Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)<\/strong> previously claimed responsibility for targeting the <strong>Al-Azraq Air Base<\/strong> in Jordan with missiles and drones.
