ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Pakistan’s Foreign Office has rejected reports suggesting that the country has stepped back from its efforts to facilitate peace between Iran and the United States<\/strong>, reaffirming that its diplomatic engagement and mediation efforts remain ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi<\/strong> said that although regional tensions have temporarily overshadowed diplomacy, Pakistan continues to believe that dialogue and negotiations are the only sustainable path to resolving differences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The current escalation is temporary. We hope that, ultimately, the idea of peace and negotiations will prevail,” Andrabi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that peace processes do not come to an end permanently but may experience temporary pauses due to changing political or security circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The process of peace never truly ends. It can face temporary interruptions, but the objective of dialogue remains alive,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson dismissed the impression that Pakistan had abandoned its mediation role, stressing that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding<\/strong> remains an effective and viable framework for facilitating future negotiations between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Andrabi, the memorandum has neither expired nor lost its relevance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Islamabad Memorandum remains valid and operational. Once the parties move away from confrontation, the return to dialogue can be achieved through this framework,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further stated that Pakistan’s position, first articulated on February 27<\/strong>, remains unchanged. He noted that Pakistan has consistently condemned armed attacks against sovereign states and has repeatedly emphasized the principles of territorial integrity and national sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At every stage of the conflict, Pakistan’s fundamental position has remained consistent\u2014that peace and negotiations are the only way forward,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that all parties involved in the dispute would eventually need to return to the negotiating table to resolve their differences through diplomatic means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foreign Office also highlighted the importance of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Communiqu\u00e9 issued on June 22<\/strong>, describing it as a practical roadmap for implementing future confidence-building measures and resuming dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Andrabi, the Islamabad Memorandum provides the basic framework for peace, while the Pakistan-Qatar joint statement outlines mechanisms for moving the diplomatic process forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged all stakeholders to resume technical-level negotiations<\/strong> in accordance with the understandings reflected in the joint communiqu\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Islamabad Memorandum is an effective framework for promoting peace, mutual respect, and shared prosperity,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions in the region and encouraging constructive engagement between Iran and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan has repeatedly maintained that military confrontation cannot provide a lasting solution to regional disputes and has consistently called on all parties to exercise restraint, respect international law, and pursue dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foreign Office’s latest statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and renewed speculation about the future of diplomatic efforts involving Tehran and Washington. By rejecting reports of withdrawing from mediation, Islamabad sought to reaffirm its commitment to facilitating peaceful engagement whenever conditions permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
