ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Around 76 percent of young people in Pakistan are optimistic about their future<\/strong>, according to a report released by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)<\/strong> on the occasion of World Population Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report highlights Pakistan’s growing youth population and emphasizes that the country’s future largely depends on the opportunities, choices, and potential of its younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the UNFPA, Pakistan’s population has reached approximately 257.2 million (25.72 crore)<\/strong>, with one-third of the population falling between the ages of 10 and 24<\/strong>, making the country one of the world’s youngest nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report states that while a significant majority of young Pakistanis remain hopeful about their future, many continue to face serious challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It found that 53 percent of young people are concerned about security, economic difficulties, and inequality<\/strong>, factors that continue to affect their confidence and prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also pointed to the digital divide<\/strong> between urban and rural areas, noting that young people in rural communities who lack internet access face greater obstacles in education, employment, and skill development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNFPA stressed that expanding digital connectivity and improving access to technology are essential to ensuring equal opportunities for youth across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organization called on policymakers to invest in digital skills training<\/strong>, create quality employment opportunities<\/strong>, and strengthen initiatives that enable young people to participate more effectively in the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, empowering youth through education, innovation, and employment can help Pakistan benefit from its demographic potential and support long-term social and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNFPA further emphasized that population policy is not simply about increasing or reducing population numbers<\/strong>, but rather about ensuring rights, informed choices, and equal opportunities<\/strong> for individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report urges governments and stakeholders to adopt people-centered policies that allow young people to make informed decisions about their education, careers, health, and future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also highlights the importance of improving access to healthcare, education, and reproductive health services while ensuring that young people, particularly women and marginalized communities, have equal opportunities to contribute to national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts believe that Pakistan’s large youth population presents both an opportunity and a challenge. If provided with adequate education, skills, employment, and digital access, the country’s young people can become a major driver of economic growth and innovation. However, failure to address issues such as unemployment, inequality, and limited access to technology could hinder the country’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
