grievances.

The association also announced that it would stage a major sit-in protest outside the Karachi Press Club on July 22 if its demands are not addressed by the provincial government.

The announcement was made during a key meeting of the Sindh Contractors Association held in Sukkur, attended by office-bearers, district representatives, and contractors from across the province.

Among those present were Association President Dost Ali Rand, General Secretary Engineer Asghar Memon, Shahid Arain, Amjad Arain, Saeed Jatoi, Fida Hussain Katpar, Ameer Hussain Golato, Shahid Dayo, and a large number of contractors representing various districts of Sindh.

Addressing the gathering, speakers criticized the provincial government’s reported allocation of only Rs1,000 each for 177 development schemes, describing the move as disappointing, unrealistic, and detrimental to the province’s development process.

The participants argued that such a nominal allocation would severely affect the implementation of development projects and make it difficult to provide essential public services and infrastructure.

They further alleged that there was a lack of transparency in the planning and distribution of development funds, which they said had created significant financial and operational difficulties for the contracting community.

The association called for an independent and transparent inquiry into the allocation of development funds and urged the government to take action against those found responsible if any irregularities were established.

Contractors also demanded that realistic and sufficient funds be released immediately for all approved development schemes so that projects serving the public interest could be completed on time.

The meeting also focused on concerns regarding certain policies and measures of the Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA).

Association leaders claimed that some procurement policies had created numerous challenges for contractors and were affecting the smooth execution of public development projects.

They urged the Sindh government to address complaints relating to SPPRA without delay and introduce necessary reforms to ensure a transparent, fair, and efficient procurement system.

According to the association, improvements in the procurement process would benefit both contractors and the timely completion of development initiatives across the province.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the association’s leadership reiterated that if the government failed to respond positively to what they described as their legitimate demands, contractors from across Sindh would participate in a province-wide protest sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club on July 22.

They stated that representatives from all districts would join the demonstration to press for their demands regarding development funding and procurement reforms.

The association emphasized that it would pursue its objectives through constitutional and democratic means, adding that the planned protest would serve as a collective effort to safeguard contractors’ rights and ensure the effective implementation of public development projects.

No immediate response from the Sindh government or SPPRA regarding the association’s allegations and demands was available at the time of the meeting.

SUKKUR: The Sindh Contractors Association has expressed serious concerns over what it described as the unfair allocation of development funds and alleged issues with the..

[4

post-5606","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-leading
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3.jpg",704,452,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3-300x193.jpg",300,193,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3.jpg",704,452,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3.jpg",704,452,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3.jpg",704,452,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/Capture-3.jpg",704,452,false
admin
["GET
