The reported strategy, however, has also sparked differences of opinion within the party.

Sources claim that Barrister Gohar contacted Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Senator Raja Nasir Abbas, requesting them to use their respective channels to help secure what the party describes as “some breathing space” in ongoing legal matters.

According to the sources, Achakzai was asked to establish contact with Rana Sanaullah, while Senator Raja Nasir Abbas is reportedly already in communication with a federal minister considered close to influential state circles.

The alleged objective of these contacts is to persuade the government not to push for the swift conclusion of two significant cases. One is Imran Khan’s appeal in the Al-Qadir Trust case before the Islamabad High Court, while the other concerns the trial of Aleema Khan in an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.

Sources say PTI’s immediate concern is the case against Aleema Khan related to the November 26 violence incidents. The party reportedly believes the trial has entered its final stages and fears that a conviction could result in her imprisonment, adding to the legal and political challenges already confronting PTI.

Party leaders are said to be concerned that any adverse verdict against Aleema Khan could further demoralize supporters and create additional organizational and political difficulties. Imran Khan is already incarcerated, while his wife Bushra Bibi and other family members are also facing legal troubles.

At the same time, PTI is reportedly seeking delays in the hearing of appeals filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against their convictions in the Al-Qadir Trust case, also known as the £190 million case. According to sources, party strategists believe postponing appellate decisions may be preferable to risking unfavorable judgments from either the Islamabad High Court or the anti-terrorism court.

PTI leaders reportedly fear that if the Islamabad High Court upholds the convictions, their legal options could become significantly narrower before the matter reaches the Constitutional Court. The Islamabad High Court has already declined requests to suspend the sentences or grant bail to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Although PTI expects the matter may eventually be heard by the Constitutional Court, sources say some within the party believe delaying immediate appellate rulings could provide greater political and legal flexibility.

However, the reported strategy does not appear to enjoy unanimous support within PTI. According to sources, a section of the party leadership believes that seeking delays through political contacts sends the wrong message and contradicts PTI’s public stance that its cases should be fought solely through legal channels.

Sources further claim that Aleema Khan herself is not fully supportive of the approach. Some party insiders believe these efforts may have contributed to the postponement of her trial proceedings until August 12 instead of concluding next week.

According to the same sources, Aleema Khan has conveyed that she is prepared to face the outcome of the legal process, including imprisonment if convicted, rather than pursuing arrangements aimed at delaying court proceedings.

When contacted, Barrister Gohar reportedly declined to comment on the alleged strategy or on matters currently under judicial consideration.

The reports have highlighted a broader debate within PTI over whether the party should continue pursuing political avenues to seek legal relief or allow court proceedings to move forward without intervention, despite the potential political costs. It is important to note that these claims are based on unnamed sources, and no official confirmation has been provided by PTI regarding the reported contacts or strategy.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has reportedly intensified behind-the-scenes efforts to seek delays in key legal proceedings involving party founder Imran..

[3

post-5542","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1-300x171.jpg",300,171,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/437900_956803_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
admin
["GET
