Reacting to the presser addressed by senior MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Saturday that his (Farooq) invitation to the federal government to intervene in provincial affairs was political blackmailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He termed Farooq\u2019s statement in which he had said that Karachi be placed under the Center\u2019s control a \u2018conspiracy\u2019 against the federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He opined that even today, MQM-P leadership believed in the politics of short-cuts rather than getting people\u2019s mandate because it had lost the trust of the masses. \u201cIf the party wants more share in power, then it will have to bear this thing in mind that these are people\u2019s votes which will help it achieve its goal,\u201d Memon said, adding, \u201cAsking the federal government to interfere or dragging the state institutions into political matters is an exercise in futility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that Farooq must bear this thing in mind that the people of Sindh had given a clear-cut mandate to the PPP, which could not be changed through any press conference, threat or political blackmailing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister asked the MQM-P to tell why it had failed to keep the promises it made to the people of the city especially when it had representation in the federal government. \u201cFarooq should refrain from holding the provincial government responsible for his party\u2019s failures.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
