QUETTA: The death toll from a passenger bus crash in the Dhana Sar area of Sherani District, near the border with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochsistan, on the N-50 National Highway has risen to 40, while eight others are injured, Balochistan government spokesperson and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Shahid Rind said on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The passenger bus travelling from Quetta to Peshawar plunged into a deep ravine in the mountainous Dhana Sar area, triggering a large-scale rescue operation. The vehicle was carrying more passengers than its seating capacity, including travellers from another bus that had broken down earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Commissioner of Sherani District Hazrat Wali Kakar said rescue teams from the district administration and ambulances were dispatched to the scene immediately after the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rescue workers continued efforts to retrieve passengers from the ravine and shift the injured to nearby medical facilities, while authorities investigated the cause of the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dhana Sar, located about 35 kilometres from Zhob on the N-50 National Highway, is a key mountain pass linking Balochistan with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the rugged Sulaiman mountain range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the passenger bus crash. The PM offered prayers for the departed souls and expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the tragic accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the crash and directed the relevant authorities to ensure they receive the best possible medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief over the tragedy and prayed for the complete recovery of the injured. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the wounded received the best possible medical treatment and said the nation stood in solidarity with the families mourning the victims. Meanwhile, the district administration has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Government of Balochistan expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, with Rind extending condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
