ISLAMABAD: An 18-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside Jamia Hafsa in Islamabad, police said on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deceased, identified as Marwa, hailed from the Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy contingent of police, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Dr Ayaz and accompanied by female police officials, rushed to the seminary to secure the scene and initiate a preliminary investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police sources, the teenager had gone to sleep on Thursday night but was found unresponsive in her room the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources privy to the development told Hum English that the capital police encountered significant resistance from the seminary management when investigators insisted on conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminary administration reportedly pressured the police to bypass the procedure, but officials stood their ground, declaring the post-mortem legally mandatory given the suspicious nature of the death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, the body was shifted to the Federal Government Hospital better known as Polyclinic, where the autopsy was completed under police supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe post-mortem examination has been conducted, and the exact facts surrounding the death will only be clear once the final medical report is received,\u201d SP City Dr Ayaz told journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that the police are examining all angles and assured that \u201call legal requirements will be strictly fulfilled\u201d in the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamia Hafsa, the women\u2019s affiliate of the Lal Masjid, has frequently been at the center of controversies and standoffs with law enforcement over the past two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
