Tehran has now made the speedy movement of the cargo a priority to help restore normal trade and industrial activity.

A senior official from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the number of containers awaiting shipment from Pakistan has risen to between 13,000 and 18,000. The official emphasized that the cargo belongs primarily to private-sector traders, who are eager to receive their shipments as soon as possible so they can resume normal business operations.

The official noted that the delayed cargo includes goods essential for meeting consumer demand, maintaining industrial production, and supporting Iran’s economic activity. Ensuring the prompt arrival of these shipments, the official added, would help businesses continue supplying basic commodities while allowing factories to operate at full capacity.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry officials, the containers carry a wide range of products, including essential consumer goods, industrial machinery components, and equipment required for manufacturing and commercial operations.

Sources familiar with the matter said the cargo originated from several countries, including China, and consists largely of materials used by small and medium-sized industries. The shipments reportedly include automotive spare parts, household machinery, agricultural and irrigation equipment, pesticides, mobile phone repair tools, heavy truck tyres, laptops, computers, food products, and medical as well as surgical supplies.

During the conflict, some cargo bound for Iran and other destinations was reportedly diverted to Pakistan as a precaution. The containers were subsequently stored at Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port, according to available information.

However, Iranian officials said that most of the containers destined for Iran are currently located at Karachi Port, making it the primary hub for the pending shipments.

When asked about Tehran’s plans to secure the rapid transportation of the containers, Iranian Foreign Ministry sources said the preferred option is to use the fastest available sea route to move the cargo directly to Iranian ports.

Responding to reports that the containers could first be transported to Gwadar Port before being shipped onward to Iran, the senior Iranian official described the proposal as one possible alternative. However, he said that from both a logistical and economic perspective, it would be more practical to transport the containers directly from Karachi to Chabahar Port, as this route would reduce both transportation time and overall costs.

Iranian officials also expressed hope that the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan would further strengthen bilateral cooperation. They said facilitating the prompt shipment of the stranded containers to Iranian ports would serve as a practical demonstration of the growing partnership between the two neighboring countries.

The officials added that enhanced trade and transport cooperation would benefit both Pakistan and Iran by improving regional connectivity, supporting commercial activity, and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of essential goods across the region. They expressed optimism that, with the assistance of Pakistani authorities, the backlog of containers would soon be cleared and regular shipping operations restored.

Islamabad: Iranian authorities are seeking the early return of between 13,000 and 18,000 cargo containers currently stranded at various Pakistani ports after shipping disruptions caused..

[3

post-4029","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1-300x171.jpg",300,171,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/436839_5983561_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
admin
["GET
