The federal government has approved the Punjab government\u2019s request for the deployment of Pakistan army and rangers personnels across the province as the part of security arrangements for Muharram processions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Army and rangers are expected to reach all the districts on 8 Muharram evening. A joint flag march involving the police and army will be conducted in Lahore as a part of security preparations. The deployed forces will support the police particularly on 9th and 10th of Muharram to maintain law and order. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Army and rangers personnels will coordinate and report to the respective Deputy Commissioner (DCs) of the districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Punjab has requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel across the province to ensure security during Muharram. A letter from the provincial home department has been sent to the Ministry of Interior seeking the services of security forces to maintain law and order and ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram processions and gatherings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the notification, the request was made in view of the prevailing security environment and the need to establish a deliberate and foolproof security mechanism during Muharram to counter potential threats posed by terrorists and other miscreants. The deployment request was submitted on the recommendations of the Provincial Police Officer and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a Punjab Home Department spokesperson, the province has sought the deployment of 137 companies of Army and Rangers personnel across 39 districts. The request includes 61 companies of the Pakistan Army and 76 companies of the Rangers. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
