Islamabad:<\/strong> Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif<\/strong> has called for a consistent international approach toward ballistic missile programs, questioning why Iran\u2019s missile capabilities are often scrutinized while many other countries possess similar systems for defensive purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian<\/strong> during a joint press conference in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that the issue of ballistic missiles had never been part of the negotiation agenda and argued that Iran, like other sovereign nations, has the right to maintain defensive capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf Iran possesses ballistic missiles for its defense, many other countries also have such missile systems,\u201d Shehbaz Sharif said. \u201cIn that situation, why are questions raised specifically about Iran\u2019s ballistic missile program? Why should Iran not be allowed to maintain ballistic missiles for its defense like other countries?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister emphasized that there should be no double standards in dealing with international security matters and defense-related issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commitment to Peace Efforts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Shehbaz Sharif also warned that certain elements may attempt to undermine ongoing peace initiatives in the region. He said both Pakistan and Iran remain committed to protecting diplomatic achievements and ensuring that efforts toward peace are not derailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are forces that want to sabotage peace efforts,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe Iranian President and I are firmly determined to stand like an iron wall against anyone who seeks to undermine this agreement. We will remain united against those who oppose peace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts and helping sustain regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI assure you that Pakistan will continue to play its role until a lasting agreement is achieved,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will remain engaged in efforts aimed at securing durable peace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Praise for Iranian Determination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Shehbaz Sharif praised the Iranian leadership and people for their determination and resilience. He also acknowledged the role played by Pakistan\u2019s military leadership in supporting diplomatic initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir<\/strong> had worked tirelessly in support of ceasefire arrangements and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) associated with recent peace efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAllah has been very kind in granting us this success,\u201d he said. \u201cWe had pledged that we would do everything possible to help stop the conflict, and we have fulfilled that commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expanding Pakistan-Iran Cooperation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the importance of bilateral ties, the Prime Minister said Pakistan intends to deepen cooperation with Iran across all sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and regional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will promote cooperation with Iran in every field,\u201d he said. \u201cIran has the potential to become a major economy in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing the relationship between the two countries as enduring and brotherly, Shehbaz Sharif added, \u201cWe are friends and brothers forever. There should be no double standards in the world. Iran\u2019s success is our success, and Iran\u2019s failure is our failure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regional Support for Peace Initiative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the support of several regional leaders for ongoing peace efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Shehbaz Sharif, the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar<\/strong> strongly supported the initiative, while Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman<\/strong> and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan<\/strong> also backed Pakistan\u2019s efforts to promote peace and dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further extended his good wishes to Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader during his remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iranian President Rejects Compromise on Missile Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the same press conference, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian<\/strong> declared that Iran would not compromise on its missile program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will not make any compromise on our missile program,\u201d the Iranian president said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pezeshkian thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts in support of peace and diplomacy. He also expressed appreciation to the leadership of Qatar, T\u00fcrkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt<\/strong>, and other friendly countries for their contributions to the peace process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iranian president described Pakistan-Iran relations as unique and deeply rooted, saying the two countries share common goals and a common future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPakistan and Iran are partners in a shared destiny,\u201d he said. \u201cThe two nations are like one soul in two bodies. The Iranian government and people are grateful for the support extended by the Pakistani government and people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honorary Fellowship Awarded to Iranian President<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Separately, President Pezeshkian was awarded an Honorary Fellowship<\/strong> by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP)<\/strong> in recognition of his distinguished services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir attended the ceremony, where the fellowship was formally presented by the Prime Minister and the President of CPSP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The honorary distinction was awarded to Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in recognition of his notable contributions and achievements, adding a ceremonial highlight to his official visit to Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
