ISLAMABAD:<\/strong> Senior security sources have said that Pakistan is dealing with an extremely complex diplomatic issue involving the United States and Iran, emphasizing that the country\u2019s role is focused on mediation, peace, and regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an informal interaction with journalists, senior security officials stated that Pakistan has been working quietly behind the scenes and is not interested in what they described as \u201cheadline diplomacy.\u201d According to the officials, Pakistan has fulfilled all the requirements expected of a mediator, and the international community is gradually recognizing the country\u2019s contribution to efforts aimed at reducing tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sources said that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir\u2019s interest in the matter is driven solely by the desire to promote peace and stability in the region. They argued that if the conflict had not been contained, it could have resulted in serious regional and global consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the officials, one of the greatest victories is preventing a war without having to fight it. They noted that although progress has been made, there are still forces attempting to undermine the process. The sources also claimed that Israel possesses significant influence in international media and remains capable of affecting public narratives surrounding regional developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials acknowledged the contributions of several regional countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, T\u00fcrkiye, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, saying these nations responded positively to Pakistan\u2019s calls for peace and played constructive roles in facilitating dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan\u2019s Relations With Regional Powers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Security sources stressed that Pakistan maintains independent relationships with Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and other countries. They described Pakistan\u2019s ties with the UAE as brotherly and said Islamabad seeks balanced relations across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials argued that Pakistan\u2019s involvement in diplomatic efforts was important because few countries within the Muslim world were in a position to facilitate communication between rival parties. They also reiterated Pakistan\u2019s desire for improved relations with neighboring Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responding to questions regarding Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi\u2019s visit to India, the officials said Pakistan was not concerned about such engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe do not view international relations through a narrow lens,\u201d one official said, adding that countries are free to maintain diplomatic contacts with one another and that Pakistan\u2019s own relations with regional states remain strong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Counterterrorism Operations and Security Situation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Security sources provided figures regarding Pakistan\u2019s counterterrorism efforts during 2026. According to the officials, security forces conducted 32,092 intelligence-based operations (IBOs)<\/strong> up to June 15, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They stated that 2,170 terrorist incidents<\/strong> were reported during the period, with approximately 64 percent occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa<\/strong> and 34 percent in Balochistan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials claimed that 1,861 militants were killed<\/strong> during security operations, while 640 members of the armed forces, law-enforcement agencies, and civilians lost their lives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the sources, 862 militants were eliminated in operations linked to the \u201cGhazab-ul-Haq\u201d campaign in Afghanistan<\/strong>, while 999 militants were killed inside Pakistan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remarks on Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Discussing the situation in Kashmir, security officials emphasized the historical and emotional connection between Pakistan and the region. They noted that a significant proportion of Pakistan\u2019s military personnel originate from Kashmir and stressed that Pakistan\u2019s dispute is with what they termed an \u201coppressive regime,\u201d not with the people of Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials claimed that despite political and financial investments by India in Indian-administered Kashmir, public sentiment there has not changed significantly. They questioned whether economic incentives alone could alter the political views of Kashmiri Muslims and argued that support for Pakistan remains visible despite restrictions on movement and freedom of expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), security sources said public protests initially began as a movement focused on rights and economic issues. However, they argued that over time the broader intentions of certain groups became more apparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the officials, authorities were aware from the beginning of the background and objectives of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC). They claimed that some elements within the movement had adopted increasingly confrontational positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials alleged that while the AJK government encouraged businesses and markets to reopen, some activists warned shopkeepers against doing so. They maintained that the government had continued to follow political and constitutional processes in dealing with public concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security sources further claimed that anti-state slogans had been raised during some protests and said authorities would address any unlawful actions through legal and constitutional means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing Nature of Warfare<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The officials also highlighted the changing nature of modern conflict, stating that warfare is increasingly driven by advanced technology, cyber capabilities, and intelligence systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the sources, Pakistan faces multiple internal and external security challenges, including terrorism, while operating with limited resources compared to some regional competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
