The affected child is a <strong>20-month-old girl<\/strong> from <strong>UC Ping, Jandola Tehsil in District Tank<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This brings the total number of polio cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2025 to <strong>16<\/strong>, of which <strong>14 cases have been reported from the southern belt alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Provincial Breakdown of Polio Cases in 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP):<\/strong> 16 cases (14 from southern KP).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sindh:<\/strong> 6 cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Punjab:<\/strong> 1 case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gilgit-Baltistan (GB):<\/strong> 1 case.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Genetic Analysis Underway<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Health officials stated that <strong>genetic sequencing of the virus is ongoing<\/strong> to determine its origin and transmission links. Such investigations are crucial for tracking the spread of the virus and implementing targeted vaccination campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges in Vaccination Campaigns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sources highlighted that the <strong>Jandola region has long faced security challenges<\/strong>, making it extremely difficult for vaccination drives to be carried out effectively. The inability to conduct regular immunization campaigns leaves children vulnerable to the poliovirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National Health Concern<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The emergence of this case underlines the persistent challenge Pakistan faces in eradicating polio. Despite intensive vaccination efforts, gaps in coverage \u2014 particularly in security-compromised areas \u2014 continue to hinder progress.
