Cities including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo-Daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Sibi, Turbat, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan could experience maximum temperatures between 47 and 50 degrees Celsius.

Authorities have advised citizens in affected areas to take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.

In Karachi, temperatures are expected to remain comparatively lower than interior regions but still hot and humid, with the mercury likely to range between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius over the coming days.

The PMD noted that on Sunday, Dadu recorded the highest temperature in the country at 49 degrees Celsius. Shaheed Benazirabad and Mohenjo-Daro recorded 48 degrees Celsius, while Jacobabad, Sakrand, and Larkana witnessed temperatures reaching 47 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Karachi and Muzaffarabad recorded maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius, Quetta recorded 33 degrees Celsius, and Gilgit experienced comparatively cooler weather with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists say the ongoing heatwave is being caused by a high-pressure system prevailing over most parts of the country, resulting in dry and extremely hot weather conditions.

Health experts have urged people to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during daytime hours between noon and late afternoon. Citizens are being encouraged to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and remain indoors whenever possible.

The authorities have also advised farmers, laborers, children, and elderly individuals to exercise extra caution during the intense heatwave period. Hospitals and emergency services have reportedly been placed on alert in several districts to deal with potential heat-related emergencies.

Climate experts warn that Pakistan remains highly vulnerable to extreme weather conditions linked to climate change, including heatwaves, floods, and droughts. In recent years, the country has experienced increasingly intense summer temperatures, particularly in Sindh and southern Punjab.

Officials said the weather situation is being monitored closely and updates will continue to be issued as required. Citizens have been advised to follow official weather advisories and take all necessary safety precautions during the ongoing heatwave.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a severe heatwave across various parts of the country from today until May 31, warning that temperatures..

[3

post-2182","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1-300x171.jpg",300,171,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/434670_308662_updates-1.jpg",700,400,false
admin
["GET
