An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Thursday acquitted former PTI MPA Amjad Afridi in the case of hooliganism and snatching of ballot papers during the local bodies\u2019 elections.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Danish Afridi and Imran Afridi, co-suspects in the case, were also set free after the prosecution failed to prove charges against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A case had been registered against the suspects at Baldia Town police station of Karachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prosecution said that the suspects had been arrested on January 15, 2023; the day local bodies\u2019 polls were held. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It further said that a ballot book had been recovered from the suspect. \u201cApart from that, he also subjected a presiding officer to torture,\u201d the prosecutor said, and added that the suspects had rioted at a polling station in the Naval Colony UC 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The defence counsel, on the other hand, said that the suspect had showed a ballot book in support of his claim of rigging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
