MURREE: Seven people, including five children and two women, were killed and seven others injured when a Suzuki Bolan plunged into a deep ravine and caught fire on Rakhyala Road in Murree, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accident occurred near Broha Chowk, close to Tret police post, according to a statement issued by the Murree City Traffic Police spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The family was returning from a wedding ceremony to their village in Tret when the vehicle met with the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rescue 1122 teams and other relevant departments reached the site after receiving information about the incident and launched relief operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deputy superintendent of police (DSP) traffic in Murree and traffic police personnel also reached the site to assist with rescue efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seven injured taken to hospital<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The injured were identified as Arshad, Nighat, Laiba Bibi, Kashan, Aima Noor, Tayyab Mahmood and Raima Noor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They were shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The cause of the accident was not immediately known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Murree District Police Officer and Chief Traffic Officer Munir Ahmed Hashmi expressed grief over the loss of life and directed the relevant police officials to provide full assistance with rescue operations and examine all aspects of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maryam Nawaz expresses grief<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow over the deaths and offered condolences to the bereaved families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and directed officials to ensure they received the best possible medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The chief minister instructed the deputy commissioner of Murree to monitor the rescue and relief operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Previous accidents in Murree<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The latest incident comes less than a month after a school van caught fire<\/a> in Murree on September 29, leaving 10 children and the driver with burn injuries.
