Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given a four-week deadline to police for reducing crimes against women and children, warning that officers found negligent of duty will be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline was issued as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a special meeting in Lahore on Thursday regarding law and order situation in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was attended by Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Abdul Kareem, and all RPOs and DPOs via video link. A detailed briefing on law and order related to each division and district was given during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief minister directed the tops cops that action against the criminal elements must be expedited as the culture of hooliganism will be not be tolerated in Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam Nawaz expressed her anguish over the soaring crime numbers against women and children, gave a four-week deadline to eliminate crimes against women and children, improve law and order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief minister warned the relevant police officer will be removed if the law and order situation does not improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among her key directives, she expressed concern over the law and order situation in Rawalpindi Division and ordered the police to stop wheat smuggling from all districts, especially the provincial border areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam Nawaz said that the culture of hooliganism will not be tolerated in Punjab, no one will be forgiven and all-out action should be taken to eliminate drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief minister also ordered to intensify anti-corruption campaign in police and prompt action be taken against involved officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam Nawaz expressed no-confidence in traffic management, directs to take definite action against overspeeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also ordered police to take pre-emptive action and recover illegal weapons across the province while ensuring ban on camera glasses and other spy devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chief minister also directed the police to conduct routine patrolling across the province, issuing directive to provide bikes and other facilities to Dolphin Force personnel in Lahore for patrolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She directed the police officers to personally reach the Tableeghi Ijtemah organizers to facilitate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also directed all RPOs to hold weekly meetings on all types of crimes and submit performance reports of the concerned DPOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam Nawaz took a detailed briefing on every serious crime including the Multan incident in which a young boy was crushed to death by car-riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Punjab IGP gave a detailed briefing on the overall law and order situation across the province, highlighting trend of decreasing overall crime rate in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said there is an overall 41% reduction in crime rate in Lahore and an overall 16% drop in crimes in Dera Ghazi Khan region, 27% in Kot Addu district, 7% in Rajanpur, 25% in Layyah, 9% in Dera Ghazi district, 25% in Muzaffargarh, 52% in Bahawalpur region and 50% in Rahim Yar Khan district, 32% in Sheikhupura region, 32% in Kasur district, 19% in Nankana, 47% in Multan region, 50% in Vehari district, 30% in Lodhran, 40% in Khanewal and crimes in Rawalpindi district have decreased by 42 percent, in Jhelum by 38 percent, in Attock by 9 percent, in Chakwal by 10 percent and in Murree by 17 percent, in in Sahiwal region by 42 percent, in Okara district by 45 percent, and in Pakpattan district by 43 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 67 percent reduction was observed in the Gujranwala region, in Sialkot district 57 percent, Narowal by 54 percent, and Gujranwala district by 73 percent, in Gujarat region by 58 percent, Wazirabad district by 67 percent, Mandi Bahauddin by 51 percent, Gujarat by 56 percent, and Hafizabad by 55 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IGP said citizens benefited from the Mobile Police Station project, a total of 9,702 services were launched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam Nawaz said the culture of gangsterism will not be tolerated in Punjab and they will not be forgiven. She directed to police to ensure vigorous action to eradicate drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strong measures should be taken to identify crime hotspots and break the network, she said and added patrols should be visible everywhere in the province so that criminals fear the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maryam said continuous capacity building of the special RMC police force should be continued to deal with crowds. She praised the RMC for its excellent duty during the proposed sit-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While paying tribute to the police personnel who died in the line of duty, the chief minister directed to provide lifetime salary and package to the families of the deceased police officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
