An anti-terrorism court (ATC), set up at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, on Wednesday appointed a state counsel in the case filed against human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha for removing barriers and interfering in official duty. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The advocate general had submitted a list of five lawyers to the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Advocate Aimal Khan Mandokhel represented the couple in the court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The defence lawyers prayed to the court to adjourn the hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court, however, disposed of the plea, asking the lawyers to cross-examine the witnesses since they were present on the occasion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Advocate Mandokhel said that senior counsel Riasat Ali Azad, who was not present at that time, would do the cross-examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the defence lawyers\u2019 refusal to cross-examine, the court appointed a state counsel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, the court adjourned the case\u2019s hearing until tomorrow (October 22). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
