Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced sit-ins at 150 locations across the country from Friday to protest against the petroleum levy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a ceremony in Gulberg Town, Hafiz Naeem said the party was preparing to take to the streets again against the levy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking about education, he said a state of the art school had been reconstructed and necessary facilities, including an IT lab named after Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, had been provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged teachers and students to uphold the legacy of Pakistan\u2019s national heroes and contribute to the country\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hafiz Naeem said Jamaat-e-Islami had prioritized health and education, adding that improvements in public schools had helped restore public confidence in the government education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also criticized the lack of civic facilities, saying that despite a budget of Rs600 billion, Karachi continued to face water shortages and damaged roads. He added that union councils and town administrations lacked authority over garbage collection, water supply and sewerage issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
