The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on Advocate Siraj Ahmed for wasting court’s time by filing a frivolous and meritless petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro of the Islamabad High Court has imposed a fine on the petitioner-lawyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court has directed the petitioner to deposit Rs200,000 into the national exchequer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court has further ordered that, until the fine is deposited, the petitioner shall not be permitted to enter the administrative or judicial branches of the High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Islamabad High Court clarified that the petitioner will, however, be allowed to enter the court premises for the specific purpose of appearing in cases scheduled for a hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court noted that the petitioner failed to provide any satisfactory arguments to address objections raised regarding the maintainability of the petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the judicial order, the petitioner also failed to establish that the matter is already pending before ‘Bench I’ of the High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court observed that the petition was drafted in an extremely frivolous manner, failing to meet the standards required for legal drafting and judicial procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lawyer’s conduct was not appropriate, neither during the preparation of the application nor during the court appearance, court remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Court noted that it had previously exercised restraint regarding similar conduct by the same lawyer in another case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court observed that the petitioner has consistently demonstrated a frivolous attitude in the preparation of petitions and the presentation of arguments in his own personal cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court noted that it had previously warned the petitioner to exercise caution in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Directions have been issued to send a copy of the judicial order to the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, the Islamabad Bar Council, and the District Bar Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
