{"id":17224,"date":"2026-10-06T12:05:24","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T12:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=17224"},"modified":"2026-10-06T12:05:25","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T12:05:25","slug":"opposition-alliance-to-meet-fazlur-rehman-after-govt-pti-talks-deadlock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=17224","title":{"rendered":"Opposition alliance to meet Fazlur Rehman after govt-PTI talks deadlock"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD: The opposition alliance will meet Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad on Tuesday evening, with the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, <a href=\"https:\/\/humenglish.com\/latest\/pti-to-go-ahead-with-islamabad-march-after-govt-opposition-talks-end-in-deadlock\/\">stalled talks<\/a> with the government and other parliamentary matters expected to come under discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, a delegation of the opposition alliance will visit Maulana Fazl\u2019s residence for the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The delegation will include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Yousafzai said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the timing of the meeting would be finalised after Barrister Gohar returns from Adiala jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opposition leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the government\u2019s negotiations with the PTI and other parliamentary issues, according to the spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting comes two days after negotiations between the government and the PTI ended in deadlock as the party proceeded with its long march on Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second round of government-opposition talks began at Parliament House on Saturday evening and continued for several hours before ending without an agreement. The talks were aimed at finding a way to avert or postpone the PTI\u2019s march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PTI had agreed to enter negotiations with the government, seeking access to party founder Imran Khan among its key demands. Other demands included his transfer to Shifa International Hospital and a level playing field for political activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talks ultimately failed to bridge differences between the two sides. The PTI subsequently went ahead with the march from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards Islamabad, led by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Te march was launched after negotiations collapsed, while the government deployed heavy security and blocked routes into the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the deadlock, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had <a href=\"https:\/\/humenglish.com\/latest\/naqvi-says-sohail-afridi-sabotaged-win-win-deal-with-pti-vows-to-counter-long-march\/\">said<\/a> the talks broke down over the PTI\u2019s position on cooperation with the government\u2019s counterterrorism policy.
