Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khoreev has described the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as a positive step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference at the Russian Embassy, Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khoreev said that it was a positive development that countries in the region were trying to take responsibility for their own security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Russia viewed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as a positive step. According to him, the agreement emerged as a direct consequence of the conflict in the Middle East, which began as a result of aggression by the United States and Israel. He added that the agreement would have to prove its strength and effectiveness going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Russian ambassador further said that it was encouraging that countries in the region were trying to take responsibility for their own security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commenting on Pakistan\u2019s role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he praised Pakistan and said that, like most countries in the world, Pakistan does not support Ukraine-backed sanctions despite international pressure, which he described as welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Russian ambassador said that Russia was not preparing for war with Europe and that Russia had neither a plan nor a motive for war against Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he said Russia was ready to revive the negotiating process that had been suspended last year. However, he said that increasing pressure through US sanctions against Russia would not contribute to resolving the crisis. He added that Russia was pursuing a resolution to the Ukrainian crisis through political and diplomatic means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Albert P. Khoreev said that claims concerning the alleged abduction of 1,600 Ukrainian children were false. He said the list of 339 children provided by Ukraine was the only verifiable list. He added that even among these children, half had either never lived in Russia or had been residing there with their parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said Western countries were taking action against Russia under the name of the \u201cshadow fleet,\u201d whereas, according to him, the term did not exist in international maritime law. He said European sanctions could in no way justify the search of vessels on the high seas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ambassador further claimed that more than 200 civilian vessels had been affected by Ukrainian attacks in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, including 96 foreign-flagged vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stated that 54 countries were providing military and financial assistance to Ukraine and that Ukraine had received $160 billion in Western military assistance from 2022 to 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further claimed that Western weapons had caused $13.6 billion in damage to Russian infrastructure, while Ukrainian attacks had killed 1,472 Russian civilians and injured 6,754 others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said that European companies that had ceased operations in Russia had suffered losses of between $400 billion and $450 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
