KAKAMIGAHARA: Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals of the men\u2019s hockey event at the 20th Asian Games on Monday after defeating Oman 7-2 in their final Pool B match in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan dominated the contest at Kawasaki Juko Stadium to finish their pool campaign with four wins from five matches, having suffered their only defeat against Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sufyan Khan opened the scoring for Pakistan in the 22nd minute through a penalty corner before Oman\u2019s Al-Bara Al-Nofali levelled the score in the 28th minute. Sufyan restored Pakistan\u2019s lead later in the same minute to give the Green Shirts a 2-1 advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan extended their lead before the end of the second quarter to take a 3-1 lead into half-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rana Waheed Ashraf added to Pakistan\u2019s tally in the 34th minute before Oman\u2019s Mudit Aiman pulled one back two minutes later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rana Waheed completed his hat-trick, while Ghazanfar Ali and Muhammad Imad also found the net as Pakistan sealed a 7-2 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The semi-finals are scheduled for October 1, with the bronze-medal and gold-medal matches to be played on October 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan had earlier beaten Thailand, Uzbekistan and China before losing 5-4 to Malaysia on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani congratulated the team on the victory and expressed hope that the national side would carry the same momentum into the semi-finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan will play in the semi-finals on October 1, with their opponent to be confirmed after the completion of the pool stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
