The two-day meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Central General Council began at Mufti Mahmood Centre in Peshawar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to party spokesperson Aslam Ghauri, JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is chairing the meeting, which is being attended by more than 1,000 members, including central and provincial leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JUI spokesperson said the meeting is discussing proposals concerning administrative units and the possible creation of new provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Preparations by provincial party organisations for the upcoming local government elections are also part of the agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting will review the country\u2019s security situation, as well as domestic and international developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the party, participants will also discuss and formulate the JUI\u2019s political strategy for the coming period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
