Their advances have increased their ability to operate along a major maritime route connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

The group has also stepped up drone and missile attacks targeting Saudi territory. Recent strikes have included attacks on Saudi cities and the East-West oil pipeline, raising concerns over the potential impact on regional security and global energy supplies.

The Houthi offensive has been accompanied by a substantial mobilisation of fighters. Regional sources cited by Reuters said the group had quietly built a force of around 100,000 fighters, allowing it to expand its operations and put greater military pressure on Saudi-backed forces in Yemen.

Houthi advances have also resulted in the capture of weapons and military equipment abandoned by retreating forces, potentially strengthening the group’s capabilities as the fighting continues.

The developments have prompted Saudi Arabia to seek greater regional support. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman travelled to Cairo to discuss the situation with Egyptian officials, with regional sources saying Riyadh was seeking an Egyptian role in Red Sea security operations.

The escalation comes as the broader regional conflict has increased tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The Houthis’ growing presence around the Bab el-Mandeb, alongside Iran’s influence over the Strait of Hormuz, has added further significance to the group’s military gains.

The Houthis could also seek to use their recent advances to push for political and economic concessions, including changes to restrictions affecting Hodeidah and Sanaa and compensation for the effects of the conflict.

With Houthi forces continuing to consolidate their positions and intensify attacks, the latest escalation has added a new dimension to the long-running Yemen conflict and increased security concerns around the Red Sea.

Pakistan’s role in mediation

Pakistan has continuously called for de-escalation and has reiterated the need for dialogue to reach peace since it brought Iran and the US to the table in April this year. This role has also opened discussion about whether Islamabad can translate its peacemaking efforts into economic gains.

Earlier in June, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir took part in high-level talks in Switzerland aimed at advancing a deal to end the Iran-US conflict, marking the culmination of months of Pakistani diplomatic engagement. The effort has drawn appreciation from the United States, Iran and other countries as the war threatened to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz, global oil supplies and the wider economy.

Analysts say Pakistan’s position as a peacemaker gives it diplomatic leverage with multiple sides, including Washington, Tehran, Gulf states, Türkiye and China. Unlike its role after the September 11 attacks, when Pakistan became a frontline state in a prolonged war in Afghanistan, Islamabad is now seeking to position itself as a force for de-escalation and dialogue.

That diplomatic capital could potentially support greater foreign investment, trade and economic partnerships. Analysts have pointed to opportunities for deeper integration with the Middle East, stronger economic and defence ties with Gulf countries and Türkiye, and expanded trade with Iran if sanctions are eased.

PAK SOUCH MEDIA GROUP

Daily Pak Souch Newspaper Sukkur – Daily Pak Special Newspaper Karachi – Daily Pak Today Newspaper Karachi – Daily Pak Jazbo Newspaper Sukkur

Head Office : Ayub Gate Shaikh Muhalla Near Rabbania Masjid Sukkur

Karachi Office : Office No. 1901-B, 19th Floor Saima Trade Tower (B) Block I.I Chandigarh Road Near Jung Press, Shaheen Complex & National Museum of Pakistan Karachi Sindh Pakistan.

Contact : 03009319022

Website 1 : https://paksouch.com/
Website 2 : https://sindhi.paksouch.com/
Website 3 : https://pakjazbo.com/
Website 4 : https://urdu.pakjazbo.com/

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss the latest regional developments and..

[3

post-15955","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55.png",800,947,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55-253x300.png",253,300,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55-768x909.png",768,909,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55.png",800,947,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55.png",800,947,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Pak-Souch-Social-Media-Poster-55.png",800,947,false
admin
["GET
