SEHWAN SHARIF:<\/strong> Illegal extraction of stones from the mountains near Jahangara in the Sehwan Sharif area has reportedly continued for around a month, with heavy crane machinery allegedly being used to cut into the natural landscape and remove large quantities of stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to local residents and sources, the alleged illegal activity is taking place within the jurisdiction of the Jahangara police station in Union Council Jahangara. Heavy machinery is reportedly being used to cut mountains and load extracted stones onto vehicles for transportation and sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local sources have alleged that the activity is being carried out without a valid lease and with the alleged involvement or support of influential individuals in the area. They have also raised questions about the role of local authorities and the Mineral and Mines Department in preventing the activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A local resident identified as Haji Khoso claimed that stones were being extracted from land near his houses. He alleged that he was receiving Rs2,000 per vehicle for allowing the stone to be taken from the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to his account, hundreds of vehicles carrying stones have reportedly been operating from the area every day. He claimed that the activity had continued for approximately one month and that large portions of the mountains were being cut away for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resident further alleged that amounts ranging between Rs4,000 and Rs5,000 per vehicle were being collected as an alleged fee or payment on the route toward Sehwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The allegations have raised concerns among local communities and environmental activists, who fear that continued extraction could permanently damage the natural landscape surrounding Jahangara and Sehwan Sharif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When questioned about whether the operators possessed a valid mining lease, the son of one of the individuals allegedly associated with the activity, identified as Zamir, reportedly claimed that a lease existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when the matter was raised with Sehwan Assistant Commissioner Babar Ali Baloch, he reportedly stated that the activity was illegal and assured that legal action would soon be taken against those responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assistant commissioner\u2019s statement has increased expectations among local residents that the authorities will investigate the allegations and determine whether the stone extraction is being carried out in accordance with mining and environmental regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
