Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Maherbano Qureshi has condemned remarks made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement shared on social media, Maherbano Qureshi said there was plenty to criticize about Maryam Nawaz\u2019s political performance, but using unparliamentary and disrespectful language against her was inappropriate and insulting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said political criticism should remain within the bounds of decency and should not descend into personal attacks or offensive language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maherbano Qureshi, while referring to Maryam Nawaz as a woman and fellow political party member, urged Shafi Jan to withdraw his remarks and apologize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She emphasized that political differences did not justify the use of inappropriate language, particularly against women in public life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qureshi also criticized the behavior witnessed in the Punjab Assembly, saying that the language and conduct displayed by some lawmakers reflected their own upbringing and training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that political opponents should not respond to inappropriate behavior by lowering themselves to the same level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PTI leader\u2019s statement comes amid an ongoing exchange of criticism between political figures from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Maryam Nawaz and PTI leaders have frequently traded political accusations over provincial governance and other issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maherbano Qureshi\u2019s remarks are notable because she belongs to the PTI but nevertheless publicly criticized a member of her own party for his comments about a political opponent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She maintained that political debate should focus on policies, performance and governance rather than personal or insulting remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
