KARACHI: Former Prime Minister and Convener of the Awam Pakistan Party, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, has claimed that federal funds allocated for Karachi\u2019s Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and K-IV water supply projects have remained unutilized for the past nine years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Abbasi said that the city does not suffer from a shortage of water resources but rather from poor distribution. \u201cGo to any area of Karachi, and you will find the same situation,\u201d he remarked, questioning the current government over delays in key infrastructure projects, including the construction of University Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He criticized the deteriorating state of urban infrastructure in Karachi, stating that roads, public transport, and water supply systems have worsened over time. \u201cThe federal government had provided funds for the Green Line and K-IV projects, yet even after nine years, those funds have not been properly utilized,\u201d he alleged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abbasi added that while improvements in Karachi would have been welcome, the situation in interior Sindh has also not improved. He further claimed that corruption across the country has reached unprecedented levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, former finance minister \u0645\u0641\u062a\u0627\u062d \u0627\u0633\u0645\u0627\u0639\u06cc\u0644 echoed similar concerns, alleging that although the Sindh government demands funds, it is unclear where those resources are being spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response, Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed dismissed the criticism, urging Abbasi to focus on the economic performance of his own tenure. She stated that development work carried out by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is visible on Karachi\u2019s roads and accused the Awam Pakistan Party of lacking awareness of public issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
