{"id":14964,"date":"2026-04-18T10:00:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-18T10:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=14964"},"modified":"2026-04-18T10:00:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-18T10:00:58","slug":"iran-command-says-has-closed-hormuz-again-over-us-blockade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=14964","title":{"rendered":"Iran command says has closed Hormuz again over US blockade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>TEHRAN: Iran\u2019s central military command announced on Saturday it would resume \u201cstrict management\u201d of the Strait of Hormuz, reversing a decision to unblock the strategic channel as part of negotiations with Washington.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement shared on state television, the headquarters said Washington had broken a promise by continuing its naval blockade of ships sailing to and from Iran\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Until the United States restores freedom of movement for all vessels visiting Iran, \u201cthe situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain strictly controlled,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Donald Trump said late Friday he planned to maintain a US blockade of Iranian ports if a peace deal with Tehran is not reached, adding that he may not extend the ceasefire after its expiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz on Friday in the wake of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Lebanon, though Tehran threatened to close the vital waterway once again if the US blockade continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ceasefire between Tehran and Washington is due to expire on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaybe I won\u2019t extend it, but the blockade is going to remain,\u201d Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, when asked if the ceasefire will be extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump insisting that a US naval blockade of Iranian ports would continue until a deal was concluded, Tehran threatened to shutter the strait once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, late on Saturday morning, citing a statement from military central command, Iranian state TV reported that \u201ccontrol of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous status\u201d and \u201cis under strict management and control of the armed forces\u201d, blaming the continued US blockade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement came as maritime tracking sites showed several ships making a dash through the narrow waterway, hugging close to Iranian territorial waters as instructed by Tehran and, for some, broadcasting their identity as Indian or Chinese in an apparent attempt to show their neutrality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same sites showed that late on Friday, a number of ships began heading for the strait before suddenly turning back amid the uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 0900 GMT on Saturday, several ships had fully transited the strait in both directions, but at least two tankers headed eastwards from the Gulf towards India after loading in UAE ports appeared to have turned around and aborted their journeys.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN: Iran\u2019s central military command announced on Saturday it would resume \u201cstrict management\u201d of the Strait of Hormuz, reversing a decision to unblock the strategic channel as part of negotiations with Washington.
