QUETTA:<\/strong> Security forces conducted intelligence-based operations in Balochistan\u2019s Kharan and Washuk districts, killing 11 militants, according to the military\u2019s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an ISPR statement, the operations were carried out on September 6 and 7<\/strong> following intelligence reports about the presence of what it described as India-backed militants<\/strong> in the two districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operations, a total of 11 militants were killed<\/strong>, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 6, militants allegedly attempted to block a road in Kharan and disrupt traffic. Security forces responded immediately, cordoned off the area and engaged the militants in an exchange of fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, eight militants were killed<\/strong>, according to ISPR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military\u2019s media wing said another operation was conducted on September 7 in an area of Washuk after security forces received information about the presence of militants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the operation, troops effectively destroyed a militant hideout. Following an exchange of fire, three more militants were killed<\/strong>, ISPR said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security forces also recovered approximately 2.9 tonnes of explosives<\/strong> from the area, according to the statement. The explosives were allegedly being used to manufacture improvised explosive devices (IEDs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISPR said that sanitisation operations were being conducted in the areas to eliminate any remaining militants and that security forces would continue their efforts to counter militant activity in Balochistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The claims regarding the identities and affiliations of those killed were made by the military and could not be independently verified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
