Dadu: On the directives of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Honourable Justice (R) Shahnawaz Tariq, an awareness seminar on the protection of women from harassment at the workplace was organized at the Government Girls Pilot High School Dadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar was addressed by District Advisor Dadu, Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Memon, a retired District Judge and former Registrar of the Sindh High Court. In his address, he briefed students, teachers and administrative staff in detail about various forms of workplace harassment, their legal rights, personal dignity and the protection available to them under the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Memon highlighted key provisions of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, explaining that every institution is required to establish a three-member Inquiry Committee comprising two male and one female member. He also explained the legal procedure for filing complaints, stating that a complaint may be submitted either to the Inquiry Committee of the concerned institution or to the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further briefed the participants about different forms of harassment, legal protection available to affected persons, minor and major penalties prescribed under the law, and legal action that may be taken in cases involving false or malicious complaints. District Advisor Ghulam Mustafa Memon urged the participants to remain aware of their legal rights and, in case of any harassment or inappropriate behaviour, to lodge a complaint immediately without fear or hesitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the occasion, the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Sana Badr Malkaani, welcomed the District Advisor and appreciated the organization of the awareness seminar. She said that the 2010 law provides students, teachers and support staff not only with legal protection but also with confidence, and plays an important role in creating a safe, respectful and conducive environment in educational institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the seminar, an informative question-and-answer session was also held. During the session, students and teachers asked various questions regarding their legal rights, complaint procedures and related matters, to which the District Advisor provided detailed explanations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar concluded with the objective of raising awareness and promoting a safe, respectful, equal and harassment-free environment for women in educational and professional institutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
