He maintained that Sindh has a historic and constitutional significance within Pakistan and that the existing provincial structure should remain intact.

“Pakistan will always remain established with its four provinces,” Murad Ali Shah said, reaffirming the Sindh government’s position against the creation of new provinces.

His comments come amid renewed political discussion about the possibility of creating additional administrative units in the country. Proposals for new provinces have periodically generated debate among political parties, particularly regarding the administrative, constitutional and political implications of such a move.

Murad Ali Shah has consistently rejected calls for dividing Sindh or establishing additional provinces. He has previously maintained that the Sindh Assembly has already passed several resolutions opposing the creation of new provinces.

The chief minister also highlighted Sindh’s local government system during his speech. He claimed that a local government system of the kind operating in Sindh does not exist elsewhere in the country.

According to Murad Ali Shah, Sindh has a distinct local-government structure that provides an important framework for managing municipal and community-level affairs.

His latest remarks also follow recent comments in which he criticized a proposal attributed to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi regarding the creation of additional provinces. Murad Ali Shah had described the proposal as an outdated idea and said that the people of Sindh would not accept it.

The issue of new provinces remains politically sensitive in Pakistan. Supporters of creating additional provinces argue that smaller administrative units could improve governance, bring government services closer to citizens and address regional disparities. Opponents, however, have raised concerns about political division, constitutional complications and the potential impact on existing provincial identities.

Sindh has been particularly sensitive to proposals involving changes to its territorial or administrative structure. The Pakistan Peoples Party-led provincial government has repeatedly emphasized the province’s historical identity and its status as one of the founding components of Pakistan.

Murad Ali Shah’s latest statement therefore represents a continuation of the Sindh government’s established position rather than a new policy shift.

The chief minister also used the occasion to pay tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, emphasizing the sacrifices made for the country.

He said national occasions such as Defence Day and Air Force Day provide an opportunity to remember those who gave their lives in the service of Pakistan and to reaffirm commitment to the country’s unity and sovereignty.

Murad Ali Shah’s comments make clear that the Sindh government remains opposed to proposals for creating new provinces and continues to support the existing four-province structure.

He reiterated that Pakistan, with Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as its four provinces, would continue to remain united.

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has once again opposed the creation of new provinces, saying that Pakistan will always remain established with its..

[3

post-14810","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634.png",800,927,false
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634-259x300.png",259,300,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634-768x890.png",768,890,true
https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634.png",800,927,false],"1536x1536":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634.png",800,927,false],"2048x2048":["https://paksouch.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/11111-2026-09-08T173206.634.png",800,927,false
admin
["GET
