Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said new administrative units in Pakistan will eventually be created, stressing that no one can stop the process if it reflects the will of the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing an event in Lahore, Naqvi said Pakistan needed to \u201creset\u201d its system after 79 years because citizens were still not receiving the desired results in areas such as education, healthcare, clean water and sanitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He clarified that system reform was not aimed at replacing any government or political party, but at fixing weaknesses in governance and improving service delivery. He said any changes must remain within the Constitution and law and should be based on political consensus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naqvi argued that decisions about new administrative units should not be made by a single politician or party. Instead, the public\u2019s opinion should determine whether new units are created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said administrative boundaries would need to evolve as populations and public needs increase, while powers should be transferred to the grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The interior minister also called for Islamabad to be given provincial status, arguing that its residents should receive their rightful share under the National Finance Commission (NFC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naqvi stressed that new administrative units should be created for better governance, not on the basis of ethnicity or community. He said the creation of separate regions in Punjab would not take away Punjabi identity, nor would new administrative units in Sindh undermine Sindhi identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the objective was not to increase the number of governments, but to improve governance by decentralizing authority.
