It has been decided to change administrative structure to implement labour laws in Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Labour Department is preparing to convert 124 vacant clerical posts into field and technical posts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As many as 85 vacancies of senior clerks and 39 vacancies of stenographers eliminated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to documents, 54 labour inspectors will be appointed in place of vacant posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four labour officers, 11 assistant directors and posts of 16 deputy directors will be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As many as 39 new posts of data entry operators will also be created in the labour department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the creation of new posts, the approved workforce will remain at 950.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, 444 out of 950 approved posts of the labour department are still vacant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Only 266 inspection officers will be available to enforce labour laws in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A labour inspector was responsible for supervising 214,222 workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each inspector had to supervise an average of 1,028 businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new posts will cost the government exchequer more than Rs22.4 million annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new administrative structure will make actions against child and forced labour more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
