Ismail Al-Thawabta, director of Gaza\u2019s Government Media Office, said Israeli special forces attempted to infiltrate Gaza City but were detected by local security forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He claimed that after the operation was discovered, Israeli forces launched heavy airstrikes on densely populated areas to cover the withdrawal of their personnel and retaliate against those who had exposed the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Witnesses reported that Israeli fighter jets fired at least 12 missiles near the Al-Katiba area in western Gaza City, where many displaced Palestinian families are sheltering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Medical sources said that two children and a woman were killed in the strikes, while several other people were seriously injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Israeli military said the strikes were carried out to eliminate threats facing its forces in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
