SANGHAR, August 31, 2026 \u2014 Report by Ghulam Rasool Narejo: Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed has stressed that the complete eradication of polio is essential for ensuring a healthy future for children and called upon parents and every member of society to play an active role in the ongoing fight against the crippling disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting held to assess preparations and administrative arrangements for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, including the Sub-National Immunization Days (SNIDs), scheduled to continue from September 21 to September 24, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparations made by the relevant departments and discussed measures aimed at ensuring that the vaccination campaign reaches every eligible child across the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the meeting, Sarah Javed said that children are the future of the country and protecting them from preventable diseases is a collective responsibility. She emphasized that the complete elimination of polio requires coordinated efforts from government departments, health workers, parents, community leaders and society as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She appealed to parents and guardians to cooperate fully with the teams visiting their homes during the campaign and ensure that every child under the age of five receives polio vaccination drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Commissioner said that no child should be left without vaccination during the campaign. She directed the concerned officers and field teams to make every possible effort to reach children in all areas of the district, including remote and difficult-to-access locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sarah Javed also instructed the relevant officials to ensure effective monitoring of the campaign. She stressed that supervisory teams should remain active in the field and closely monitor the performance of vaccination teams so that the campaign objectives could be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She directed officials to identify areas where children might be missed and take immediate steps to ensure their vaccination. The officers were also instructed to maintain coordination among the departments involved in the campaign and promptly address any operational difficulties encountered by field teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the success of an anti-polio campaign depends not only on the efforts of health workers but also on public cooperation. She said that parents should understand the importance of polio vaccination and should not hesitate to administer the prescribed drops to their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She urged citizens to support the vaccination teams and help create awareness among families regarding the importance of protecting children against polio. Community cooperation, she said, is vital to achieving the goal of a polio-free society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, District Health Officer Dr. Farooq briefed the participants about the preparations for the upcoming campaign. He informed the meeting that the necessary arrangements had been completed and that health authorities were prepared to launch the vaccination drive according to the scheduled programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The health authorities are expected to deploy vaccination teams across the district to administer polio drops to children below five years of age. The teams will visit households and other designated locations to ensure maximum coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for monitoring, supervision and coordination between the district administration and health department. Officials discussed the need to ensure that vaccination teams perform their duties efficiently and that children are not missed during the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the district administration would extend all possible support to the health department for the successful implementation of the anti-polio drive. She directed all relevant officers to remain vigilant throughout the campaign and ensure that the vaccination process is carried out effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that eliminating polio requires continuous and coordinated efforts, adding that every vaccinated child represents another step toward protecting the younger generation from the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was attended by all Assistant Commissioners, Dr. Dildar N Stop, Bilal Ahmed, Aftab Ahmed, Dr. Hina Shabbir and other relevant officers and officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner once again urged parents to cooperate with polio vaccination teams and ensure that their children under five years of age receive the life-saving drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
