Hyderabad, August 30 (Mahboob Hussain Bozdar): On the special instructions of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Regional Director Ombudsman Sindh Hyderabad Region, Syed Muhammad Sajjad Haider, conducted a surprise inspection of the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Tando Jam. Assistant Commissioner Rural Gohar Masroor accompanied him during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The purpose of the inspection was to review the medical facilities available at the health centre, attendance of medical staff, availability of medicines, services being provided to patients and overall administrative arrangements. The Regional Director thoroughly examined the attendance register, medicine stock register and other relevant records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, In-charge\/Administrator Zafar Ahmed Dharejo briefed the Regional Director about various departments and the overall performance of the health centre. He said that the Rural Health Centre Tando Jam was established on April 1, 1961, and currently provides basic healthcare services to around 12 to 15 surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the administrator, the health centre has 17 doctors, 26 paramedical staff and eight technical and support staff. Around 1,500 patients are examined daily in the OPD, which operates for approximately seven hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The health centre also provides a 24-hour normal delivery service, with approximately six to eight normal deliveries conducted daily, according to the administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Regional Director inspected the EPI Centre, various OPDs, laboratory, X-ray and ultrasound departments and reviewed the facilities available to patients. He was informed that approximately 60 ultrasound examinations are conducted every day, while X-ray services are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The administrator further stated that all essential diagnostic tests are conducted regularly at the centre, enabling patients to receive basic diagnostic services at one location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Regional Director also inspected the pharmacy and medical store, reviewing the availability of medicines, stock position and relevant records. He was informed that vaccines for dog and snake bites are also available at the health centre to ensure timely treatment in emergency situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The centre has two ambulances to assist patients requiring emergency medical services. During power outages, a 16-kilowatt solar system is available, while two 30-kilowatt generators provide an alternative power supply. A water filtration plant is also available to provide clean drinking water to patients and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
