Sindh Agriculture University Agree to Strengthen Collaboration in Agricultural Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TANDOJAM (Mahboob Hussain Buzdar): The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam have agreed to strengthen cooperation in agricultural research, practical training of students, joint research projects and efforts to address challenges facing Pakistan\u2019s agriculture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two institutions also discussed renewing their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and launching new joint initiatives aimed at promoting research, education and innovation in agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this regard, Dr Sajjad Ali Rao, Member Plant Sciences Division, PARC Islamabad, and Pervez Ahmed Baloch, Director General of PARC\u2019s Southern Agricultural Research Centre Karachi, met with Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam Vice Chancellor Engineer Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit was Dr Sajjad Ali Rao\u2019s first introductory visit to Sindh Agriculture University following his appointment as Member of the Plant Sciences Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director Students Teachers Engagement Programme Professor Dr Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Dr Asia Akbar Panhwar and other relevant officials also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participants held detailed discussions on a range of issues, including renewal of the MoU between PARC and Sindh Agriculture University, projects under agricultural linkage programmes, joint research activities, internship and practical training opportunities for students, the university\u2019s role in agricultural development and the possibility of launching new collaborative research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, the participants emphasised that Pakistan\u2019s agriculture sector is facing a number of serious challenges, including climate change, water shortages, low crop productivity, pests and plant diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They stressed that stronger links between agricultural universities and research institutions, modern scientific research and joint projects are essential to address these challenges effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participants said collaboration between academic and research institutions could help develop scientific solutions to agricultural problems and ensure that the benefits of research reach farmers and farming communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Engineer Professor Dr Altaf Ali Siyal said Sindh Agriculture University was committed to strengthening its links with leading agricultural research institutions in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said cooperation with research organisations would provide students with greater opportunities for practical training and exposure to modern research methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vice chancellor said joint research projects and stronger institutional links would also help enhance the professional skills of students and prepare them to contribute more effectively to the agriculture sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that collaborative research could play an important role in identifying scientific solutions to agricultural challenges and transferring the benefits of research and innovation to farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Sajjad Ali Rao appreciated the role of Sindh Agriculture University in agricultural education, research and the development of skilled human resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said that by making cooperation between PARC and Sindh Agriculture University more effective, the benefits of agricultural research and training could be delivered directly to the agriculture sector and farming communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Rao emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation between universities and research institutions to improve agricultural productivity and develop solutions suited to local farming conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said that greater coordination between PARC and the university could create opportunities for researchers and students to work together on issues of practical importance to farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the meeting, Dr Saleem Masih Bhatti, Director Quality Enhancement at Sindh Agriculture University, briefed the vice chancellor and the PARC delegation about the existing MoU between the two institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained the importance and scope of the agreement and highlighted potential areas for future collaboration between the university and PARC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They agreed that practical training and exposure to research institutions participants also discussed ways to expand cooperation in research, student training, internships and agricultural development programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They agreed that practical training and exposure to research technologies and farming practices that are affordable, practical and suitable for local conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed renewal of the MoU is expected to provide a framework for expanding cooperation between the two institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two sides also discussed continuing consultations on new joint projects and identifying areas where researchers and students from both institutions could collaborate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The officials expressed the view that stronger institutional cooperation could contribute to agricultural innovation while also creating new learning and research opportunities for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The collaboration could also provide a platform for researchers to share knowledge, resources and expertise and work jointly on projects of national and regional importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the conclusion of the meeting, both institutions agreed to continue consultations for the renewal of their existing Memorandum of Understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They also agreed to explore new avenues for joint research, student internships, practical training and other collaborative activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting concluded with an emphasis on strengthening academic and research partnerships to address Pakistan\u2019s agricultural challenges and ensure that scientific research produces practical benefits for farmers and the
