SUKKUR (Staff Reporter Danish Rajput): An awareness seminar on the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine products was organised in Sukkur by the Management and Governance Network in collaboration with the Coalition for Tobacco Control Pakistan (CTC-Pak).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar was attended by representatives of civil society, teachers, community organisations and members of the media. Speakers discussed the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine products on human health, with particular emphasis on their impact on young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the seminar, participants were informed about the potential risks associated with tobacco and nicotine use, particularly among the younger generation. Speakers highlighted concerns regarding mental development, educational performance and social life, stressing the need for greater public awareness and preventive measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A special awareness session was also held for media representatives. The session focused on the important role of the media in promoting public awareness and supporting efforts to control tobacco use in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Project Coordinator Zeeshan Danish said that protecting young people from the growing use of tobacco and nicotine products requires a collective effort involving parents, teachers, civil society, the media and relevant government institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that no single segment of society could effectively address the issue on its own and that coordinated efforts were necessary to discourage tobacco and nicotine use among young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zeeshan Danish emphasised the importance of continuous awareness campaigns to educate communities about the potential dangers associated with tobacco and nicotine products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that parents and teachers have a particularly important role in guiding young people and helping them understand the consequences of tobacco and nicotine use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also called on media organisations to continue highlighting the issue and providing accurate information to the public. According to him, greater awareness can help communities recognise the risks and encourage healthier choices among young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Irshad Mir of the Management and Governance Network said that effective and practical measures were essential to provide future generations with a tobacco-free environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed the need for sustained efforts to prevent tobacco use and said that institutions and community organisations should work together to strengthen tobacco-control initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Mir also highlighted the importance of involving young people in awareness activities so that they can become informed about the risks associated with tobacco and nicotine products and play a positive role in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants at the seminar discussed the need for stronger cooperation between civil society organisations, educational institutions, the media and government departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They noted that awareness campaigns can play an important role in informing people about the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine and encouraging communities to support preventive measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The special session with media representatives also highlighted the responsibility of journalists and media organisations in bringing public-health issues to wider attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants emphasised that responsible reporting and continued public awareness can help create a more informed society and encourage authorities to take effective measures against tobacco use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also expressed the organisers said that awareness programmes would continue in order to reach more members of the community and particularly young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
