ISLAMABAD: The federal government has cancelled the licences of 50 pilots and suspended the licences of another 33 pilots following allegations involving fraudulent or irregular pilot licences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The information was provided by the Ministry of Defence in a written response submitted during the question hour in the National Assembly on Friday. According to the response, the controversy surrounding allegedly fake pilot licences resulted in significant financial losses for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), particularly after international restrictions were imposed on the national carrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministry stated that restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States on PIA\u2019s international flight operations caused the airline to suffer a revenue loss of approximately Rs200 billion between August 2020 and December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government said the cancellations and suspensions were carried out under the relevant provisions of the Civil Aviation Rules, 1994.
