KARACHI \u2014 Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has an unmatched record of serving the country and claimed that the party also played a key role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Memon said the PPP was the political party that repeatedly came to power through what he described as the public mandate and then undertook initiatives aimed at serving the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the party\u2019s contribution to Pakistan\u2019s development and national interests could not be compared with that of other political parties. According to Memon, the PPP had continued to pursue policies and projects intended to address public needs and strengthen the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memon also spoke about several ongoing and planned transport projects in Karachi, saying that a large number of double-decker buses would arrive in the city next month. He said electric vehicles and electric taxis were also being introduced as part of efforts to improve the city\u2019s public transportation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provincial minister said approval had been granted for 500 electric buses. He described the planned introduction of electric transport as an important step towards improving public mobility and providing residents with additional transportation options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memon also said that pink scooters would soon become available to citizens. The initiative, he indicated, was part of broader efforts to expand transportation facilities and provide more accessible mobility options to Karachi residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Giving an update on infrastructure development in the city, Memon said that between 80 and 85 percent of the work on the corridor project on University Road had been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said traffic flow on University Road was currently not facing significant problems and expressed confidence that the remaining work would be completed within the announced timeframe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Memon, the University Road project was expected to be fully completed by September 15. He said the completion of the project would further improve traffic movement and infrastructure facilities along one of Karachi\u2019s important routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The senior minister also discussed Pakistan\u2019s energy resources, particularly the coal reserves in Tharparkar. He said coal could be used to generate electricity at comparatively lower costs and emphasized the potential of Thar\u2019s coal reserves for meeting the country\u2019s energy requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memon claimed that the coal reserves in Tharparkar were sufficient to support power generation plants across Pakistan. He said greater utilization of indigenous energy resources could help address the country\u2019s electricity requirements and reduce reliance on more expensive sources of energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He linked the development of Thar\u2019s coal resources to the PPP\u2019s broader record of national service, arguing that the party had undertaken initiatives with long-term implications for Pakistan\u2019s economy and energy security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memon reiterated his claim that the PPP had made exceptional contributions to Pakistan. He specifically referred to the country\u2019s development as a nuclear power, presenting it as one of the major achievements associated with the party\u2019s political history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PPP leader said his party\u2019s contribution to Pakistan should be judged in the context of its policies and initiatives over different periods of the country\u2019s history. He maintained that the party had consistently worked for national development and public welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister\u2019s remarks came as the Sindh government continues to highlight infrastructure, public transport and urban development initiatives in Karachi.
