KARACHI : The regular meeting of the Karachi Branch of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat was held at Gul Rang Hall of the Arts Council, Karachi, under the chairmanship of writer and poet Sarwar Samejo. The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by branch secretary Nisar Naz Rik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the literary session, Waheed Mohsin and Murtaza Naz presented ghazals, while Amjad Durani presented a poem and Nisar Naz Rik presented a ghazal. Sahib Khan Bhund, Mureed Ali Jamro, Sarang Munir Soomro, Muzaffar Memon, Amin Joyo, Ghafoor Khatri, Saleem Anwar Abbasi, Zulfiqar Solangi and others shared their critical views on the presented works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants stressed that, in view of concerns surrounding a possible division of Sindh and efforts that could undermine the province’s unity, writers, poets, artists and journalists should use their writings, poetry, art and voices to promote awareness, consciousness and unity among the people of Sindh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They said literature and art play a fundamental role in preserving a society’s national, cultural, historical and geographical unity. In the current situation, writers and intellectuals should not ignore concerns about the possible division of Sindh; instead, they should use their creative abilities to communicate facts to the public and create greater awareness about their history, land, language and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants said poets should understand the sensitivity of the present circumstances and create resistance-oriented and revolutionary poetry that conveys love for Sindh’s history, land, unity, language and cultural identity while promoting unity, peace and democratic consciousness among the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They also emphasized that artists, singers and musicians should play their part in raising awareness, uniting and organizing the people through their voices and art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting stressed that writers and intellectuals should avoid emotional slogans and instead educate the public through historical facts, evidence, research and a conscious approach. This, they said, would help strengthen knowledge and fact-based awareness in society rather than allowing rumours and misinformation to spread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants maintained that protecting Sindh’s unity is not solely the responsibility of political leadership or any particular class. It is a collective responsibility of every conscious citizen, writer, poet, journalist, artist, teacher, student and member of civil society. They said creating public awareness through literature, journalism, poetry, music, drama and other forms of art in a peaceful and democratic manner has become an important requirement of the present time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They called on Sindh’s writers, poets, artists and journalists to work together to advance a conscious literary movement that raises its voice for the province’s unity, peace, tolerance, cultural identity and people’s rights. They said that when literature, poetry and art become connected with public consciousness, they can serve as powerful instruments for positive social change and democratic resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The writers and intellectuals also appealed to the younger generation of Sindh to study their history and culture, make knowledge and reason their strength, and raise questions concerning Sindh’s unity through peaceful, democratic and informed means.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
